This Cambodia and Laos bike tour is the perfect introduction to the historical highlights and rural landscapes of Asia’s most pristine travel destinations. You will explore a part of both countries that have remained largely untouched by modern tourism and enjoy the best off the beaten track.
Starting in Siem Reap, explore the World Heritage of Angkor Temples by bike. Uncover the stories of the famous Angkor Wat; learn about the ancient capital of the Khmer Kingdom. Then, cycle through the beautiful Mekong river and Kuang Si Waterfall, the royal cultural landscape of Luang Prabang, and meet the Laotians. A mix of scenic boat rides, historical sites, culture, and the Mekong Delta creates an exciting tour of Cambodia and Laos.
Upon arrival, please look out for the Siem Reaper welcome sign at the arrivals gate. We will transfer you to your hotel, where you can take your time and relax by the pool or venture out for your first exploration of this ancient city.
Then meet your guide at 14:00 and begin your ride through Angkor Archaeology Park and its countryside and see temples bathed in golden light. Explore Angkor Thom, Bayon, and Angkor jungle trails at dusk, and learn more about this temple complex’s rich history.
Later, take a tranquil dragon boat ride on the moat of Angkor Thom, enjoying local delicacies and refreshing cold beverages available onboard, including soft drinks and some beers. This is the perfect way to enjoy an unforgettable sunset tour.
After breakfast at the hotel, you start biking! First, you will visit the iconic temple, Angkor Wat, with its rich history and symbolism, it’s also the largest religious monument in the world and the finest example of Khmer architecture.
Continue our ride to the ancient city of Angkor Thom. Enter the city through the ancient gate which is carved with elephants and four giant faces. Head to Bayon Temple, which is located in the center of the city. Admire its enigmatic faces that represent the 54 provinces of the Great Khmer Empire. Look out from the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King.
Following lunch and a rest break, then set out to see the jungle-enveloped Ta Prohm. Explore this temple which is overgrown with jungle trees and was once featured in the Tomb Raider film. Afterward, return to your hotel.
This morning, cycle on the Siem Reap backroads to the former Angkor city of Roulous Group. The temple was the center of Khmer civilization and was built by the Angkorian king in the 8th century. We explore the three main temples here: Lolei, Preah Ko, and Bakong Temple.
We’ll eat lunch at a local house before we continue another 12 km to Tonle Sap lake to take a short cruise to Kampong Phluk to see the floating villages, where you’ll have an opportunity to learn about life on the water.
Tonle Sap Lake is the largest lake in Southeast Asia and offers a unique way of life for those living on Cambodia’s Tonle Sap Lake, which is recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Once we reach Kampong Phluk, we will take a tour around the area to explore the houses. The houses are built on stilts, adapted to withstand flooding, experienced during the rainy season. From your tour guide, you will learn about daily life in the area.
After exploring the village, we will take a boat and further discover the village life from the water, such as the schools, market, pagoda, etc. At the end of the day, we will watch the sunset on the lake with some snacks and cold beverages.
This morning, we depart Siem Reap for a morning flight to Luang Prabang. In the afternoon, begin the ride around the old quarter of Luang Prabang.
Experience the rich traditions and culture of Laos. You will visit museums, temples, and Mount Phousi, fill your day with breathtaking sights and engaging glimpses into the history of this UNESCO-listed city. Afterward, enjoy the creative local cuisine in Luang Prabang.
After having breakfast at your hotel, you will set off on a scenic ride along the Mekong River to the beautiful Kuang Si waterfall. Enjoy the medium-grade ride which lasts 2-3 hours with some hills, making several stops to explore the local villages along the way. When you arrive, marvel at Kuang Si Waterfall which spans a large area through some of the lushest jungle around Luang Prabang.
Explore the easy walking trails which wind past numerous pools and water cascades where you can relax and swim. Enjoy a provided lunch at the waterfall as you soak up the scenic views and tranquil atmosphere. Then, make use of the small private changing rooms near the waterfall, which allow you to change into your swimming suit. You can also see up-close Asiatic bears at the Bear Rescue Centre along the jungle walk to the waterfall.
After plenty of recreation time at the waterfall, hop back onto the bikes for a fun downhill ride to the Mekong River. Then, board a long-tail boat for a 2-hour scenic cruise up the Mekong River back to Luang Prabang. Finally, ride the short distance back to the bike shop to wrap up a great day.
This morning, we’ll ride from the city to our first stop at Wat Pa Phon Phao, a forest temple with a great view of Luang Prabang. Follow the paved road further through teakwood forests and rice fields along the Nam Khan River to visit the resting spot of Henri Mouhot.
The highlight is an elephant experience in the stunning landscape with a background of jungle-covered mountains, and you’ll enjoy lunch in a beautiful setting. Afterward, take a boat ride to visit the Tad Sae Waterfall for a refreshing swim (August through January) or for a short jungle walk with a visit to a baby elephant in the jungle (February through July). After a short return boat ride, continue biking through beautiful scenery on a new path back to Luang Prabang.
There are no activities planned for today! Our tour concludes with a transfer to the Luang Prabang airport. Take the day to reflect upon the rewarding trip and say goodbye to your guide and driver.

Siem Reap, Cambodia
Central Corner d’Angkor features a restaurant, seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a bar and shared lounge in Siem Reap. The room was spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The pool area is a private oasis and though it is small, it was always quiet to relax.
Luang Prabang, Laos
Situated along Mekong River, The Belle Rive features comfortable rooms with air conditioning and free minibar. It boasts a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi, which is available in all areas.
Meals are characterized by fresh, seasonal ingredients, prepared in a simple, classic style of Cambodia & Laos. Western food is also available during the trip.
